Overview and Gameplay
Wayne Campbell and Garth Algar take their public-access show into a side-scrolling NES platform game based on the movie license. The adventure sends them through places such as Kramer’s Music Store, The Gasworks, an alleyway, Benjamin’s Chicago studio, and Benjamin’s condo.
Stages are timed, and the player fights enemies, avoids hazards, collects donuts and power-ups, and tries to reach the end before running out of worthiness units or lives. Wayne and Garth appear in different parts of the game, with Wayne using martial arts attacks and Garth relying on his homemade taser gun.
Controls And Mechanics
- The character can move, duck, enter doors, jump, and perform a higher flip jump.
- Attacks differ by character: Wayne uses karate moves, while Garth fires his taser weapon.
- Each life begins with worthiness units, which work as the health meter.
- Donuts and power-ups can restore or increase worthiness.
- Power-ups temporarily improve attack strength.
- The NES version is single-player only.
Version Notes
This NES game is separate from the SNES, Genesis, Game Boy, and DOS versions of Wayne’s World, which use different designs or mechanics.
