Overview and Gameplay
World Games turns international sports into eight quick arcade events, from caber tossing in Scotland to sumo wrestling in Japan. Players choose countries, compete for medals, and chase session records across a tournament drawn from Epyx’s computer sports series.
Each event plays like its own timing challenge. Weight lifting tests ordered inputs, barrel jumping rewards rhythm and landing control, cliff diving demands a clean entry, and bull riding asks the player to react to the animal’s movement.
Controls And Mechanics
- The Control Pad is used for menu choices, movement, turning, balancing, and event-specific technique.
- Button A confirms choices and performs event actions such as jumping, starting attempts, or committing to a throw.
- Start pauses the game.
- Multiplayer is competitive pass-and-play tournament scoring, with players taking turns in selected events.
- Medals determine the overall winner: gold, silver, and bronze add points toward the final championship.
Version Notes
The NES version keeps the eight-event structure of World Games, unlike some other console versions that used a smaller event list.
