Overview and Gameplay
The 1994 World Cup setting shapes Super Formation Soccer 94: World Cup Edition, a Japan-only Super Famicom soccer game from Human Entertainment. Players choose national teams, play exhibition matches, enter a 24-team World Cup, follow an Asian Qualifier route, or set up league and tournament play. Matches use vertical soccer action with passing targets, shots, tackles, fouls, injuries, substitutions, set pieces, and penalties.
Controls And Mechanics
- Players move and aim in eight directions, pass to a selected teammate, shoot, clear, slide, shoulder charge, and send lobs or long feeds.
- The pass cursor and controlled player can be changed during play, helping organize attacks and defense.
- Goalkeeper and penalty situations use directional aiming and timed actions.
- Two players can play simultaneously against each other or cooperate on the same team against the computer.
Version Notes
This is the original Japanese World Cup Edition, not the later Super Formation Soccer 94: World Cup Final Data update.
