Overview and Gameplay

The Royal Rumble format brings twelve WWF wrestlers into a 16-bit wrestling game built around pins, tags, brawls, tournaments, and over-the-top-rope eliminations. WWF Royal Rumble features stars such as Bret Hart, Randy Savage, Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, Razor Ramon, Yokozuna, Ric Flair, and Lex Luger.

Controls And Mechanics

  • Matches use movement, running, punches, kicks, grapples, pins, rope action, turnbuckle attacks, and special moves.
  • Tag Team and Triple Tag Team modes add partner switching and team match strategy.
  • Brawl rules focus on draining energy, while Royal Rumble mode eliminates wrestlers by throwing them over the top rope.
  • Illegal moves such as eye gouges and chokes, plus chair use outside the ring, add extra risk.
  • Two players can compete in simultaneous versus play; no co-op mode is confirmed.

Version Notes

This is the European PAL SNES release. The SNES version has a different roster from the Genesis/Mega Drive version, with wrestlers such as Mr. Perfect, Tatanka, Ric Flair, Yokozuna, and Ted DiBiase on SNES.
