Overview and Gameplay
Six players line up on each side of the court in Volleyball, an early Nintendo sports game based on indoor team volleyball.
The player chooses men’s or women’s league, selects national teams, and plays against the computer or another player. Matches use serves, receives, sets, spikes, blocks, diving saves, and timed positioning. Scoring follows classic side-out volleyball: only the serving team can score, 15 points wins a game, and the first side to win three games takes the match.
Controls And Mechanics
- Training mode slows the ball and highlights the controllable player for practice.
- Men’s league uses faster ball speed than women’s league.
- Serving strength and direction depend on timing and direction input.
- Normal receives and sets differ from low receives and quick sets.
- Spikes, feints, cross spikes, and blocks depend on timing near the net.
- One player can face the computer, or two players can play versus matches.
