Overview and Gameplay
Super Spike V’Ball / Nintendo World Cup opens with a menu for two Technos Japan sports games. Super Spike V’Ball features two-on-two beach volleyball across Exercise, American Circuit, and World Cup courses. Tournament Singles pairs one human with a computer teammate, while Tournament Doubles lets two humans face computer teams together. Nintendo World Cup presents a 13-team football tournament, password-based progress, and standalone matches with selectable field conditions.
Controls And Mechanics
In volleyball, the D-pad moves and aims, A bumps, sets, serves, or strikes, and B jumps for spikes and blocks. Pressing B repeatedly in the air before A produces a Super Spike. Teams may touch the ball three times before returning it, and matches support configurable point targets, sets, and scoring rules.
In football, A passes or tackles, while B shoots or performs sliding attacks. Pressing both buttons with a direction triggers a limited Super Kick. Two players can cooperate in each game’s tournament mode, while competitive matches support up to four participants with a multiplayer adapter.
Version Notes
Super Spike V’Ball adapts U.S. Championship V’Ball for the NES, while Nintendo World Cup presents its Japanese school-football source as an international competition.
