Overview and Gameplay

Two warrior brothers set out to restore the ruined kingdom of Alurea and recover the Dragon Blue Eyes. This Sega Genesis conversion of Capcom’s arcade game combines side-scrolling platforming with sword combat, magic, wall climbing, swimming, flying, and large boss battles.

The opening areas of Earth, Heaven, and Sea can be tackled in different orders. Coins found in stages are spent between levels on healing, magic, stronger swords, increased health, and extra continues, giving the cartridge version a stronger progression system than the arcade original.

Controls And Mechanics

  • Directions: Move, crouch, climb walls, swim, and fly where permitted.
  • A: Use the currently available magic attack.
  • B: Swing the sword; repeated attacks produce a larger slash.
  • C: Jump, or leap away while clinging to a wall.
  • Directions + C: Perform a higher jump.

The blue brother favors sword strength, while the red brother has a greater emphasis on magic. This version supports one player only.

Version Notes

The western Genesis and Mega Drive release keeps the Japanese title Chiki Chiki Boys. The original western arcade version was titled Mega Twins. Unlike the arcade game, this cartridge removes simultaneous two-player play and adds shops and permanent upgrades.
