Overview and Gameplay
Eight former heavyweight champions, including Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, Rocky Marciano, Joe Louis, and Evander Holyfield, meet in a boxing game built around movement, timing, blocking, and targeted damage. Exhibition bouts provide immediate matches, while Tournament mode places one legend in an eight-man elimination bracket.
Career mode lets players create a boxer, begin near the bottom of the rankings, train power, speed, and stamina, earn money, capture the championship, and eventually challenge the historical fighters.
Controls And Mechanics
- Move around the ring, throw left and right jabs, hooks, and uppercuts, or block attacks aimed at the head and body.
- Separate head and torso indicators show accumulated damage. Sustained punishment can cause knockdowns or a technical knockout.
- Six-button controllers assign uppercuts to dedicated buttons, while three-button pads use button combinations.
- Two players can compete simultaneously in versus exhibition bouts. Career and Tournament are solo modes.
