Overview and Gameplay
Debbie Jellinsky has kidnapped baby Pubert, leaving Uncle Fester to search the Addams estate and its bizarre surrounding regions. Addams Family Values is a top-down action-adventure built around real-time combat, exploration, item collection, character quests, and dungeon puzzles.
The interconnected world includes gardens, swamps, deserts, icy areas, lava caves, and a morgue. Keys and quest items open new routes, while a starter dungeon and seven numbered dungeons introduce switches, warp tiles, hidden passages, hazards, and bosses. Progress is stored with passwords obtained from Cousin Itt rather than a battery save.
Controls And Mechanics
- Move and aim Fester in four directions.
- Fire a directional lightning attack while standing still.
- Watch the skull-based health meter: the lightning becomes shorter and weaker as Fester is injured.
- Find health upgrades, weapons, special abilities, keys, and cookies with helpful or harmful effects.
- Use the journal map and inventory to track routes and quest objects.
This is a demanding one-player adventure. Limited healing, cryptic routes, and long passwords make careful exploration important.
