Overview and Gameplay
In the 30th century, pilot Zana Keene takes a transformable combat craft into battle against Great Hilagi’s invading forces. Arrow Flash is a single-player scrolling shooter built around switching between a fast jet and a flying humanoid robot. The screen usually moves horizontally, with one section changing the direction of play. Each stage sends the player through enemy formations, power-up routes, and boss encounters.
Controls And Mechanics
- Use the directional pad to move, A to transform, B to fire, and C to activate the Arrow Flash special attack.
- Jet form moves faster horizontally, fires forward, launches straight missiles, and uses a concentrated Arrow Flash blast.
- Robot form has stronger vertical movement, wider coverage, homing missiles, and an Arrow Flash field that damages enemies while protecting the craft.
- Power-ups improve lasers, missiles, speed, helper options, and shields. The shield absorbs three hits, while losing a life removes accumulated weapon power.
- The options menu includes Easy, Normal, and Hard difficulty, rapid or single-shot fire, remappable action buttons, and Stock or Charge behavior for Arrow Flash.
Version Notes
The North American and European releases keep the title Arrow Flash but use different story names in their manuals. North American material calls the pilot Zana Keene, while European documentation names her Anna Schwinn.
