Overview and Gameplay
Bubba is a zoo worker abducted by Waldo, an alien collector whose spacecraft crashes on a distant world. After escaping, Bubba teams up with Stix, a living twig who becomes his weapon, tool, and occasional platform.
This 1994 puzzle-platformer is built around five large stages, including an alien forest, a crashed spacecraft, a submerged temple, and a spaceport. Progress depends on experimenting with Stix, operating machinery, moving objects, and sometimes keeping creatures alive so they can help solve later obstacles. Passwords provide access to later levels, while collectibles improve the score and can unlock timed bonus rounds.
Controls And Mechanics
- Stix: Swing him, throw and recall him, use him as a ledge, lever, boomerang, snorkel, cue, or tool for environmental devices.
- Movement: Bubba can crouch, run, perform high jumps, and make longer jumps while running.
- Survival: He has six health points, starts with three lives by default, and can collect health and extra lives.
- Players: The Genesis version is strictly single-player.
Version Notes
The USA release includes a Bubblicious promotion. Bubba blows bubble gum during an idle animation, and Bubblicious gum appears as a score-boosting bonus-stage collectible.
