Overview and Gameplay

Will and Rick chase Jenny across the world, turning each stage into a split-screen footrace packed with platforms, hazards, enemies, shortcuts, and opportunities to disrupt the rival. The solo campaign spans six worlds with three stages each. The first two stages are races against Rick, while the third is a moving vehicle chase that requires Will to collect special weapons and rescue Jenny.

Success depends on learning fast routes, managing dash power, and recovering quickly after attacks. Points come from clearing stages, finishing within the target time, collecting items, defeating enemies, and striking the opponent.

Controls And Mechanics

  • Dash: Builds speed and turns the racer into a rolling attack, but drains a rechargeable power meter.
  • Jump: Clears obstacles and can flatten a crouching rival.
  • Items: Bombs, fire, thunder, ice, speed boots, invisibility, and other pickups hinder the opponent or improve movement.
  • Two-player mode: Both players race simultaneously on separate halves of the screen. A three-stage match is decided by total score.

Version Notes

Rumble Kids was a planned Japanese title, but the game received its retail release in North America as Dashin’ Desperadoes.
