Overview and Gameplay
Dr. Wily rewrites history itself, forcing Mega Man back into battles drawn from his earliest encounters. This Genesis release compiles enhanced versions of Mega Man 1, 2, and 3, rebuilt for 16-bit hardware with improved visuals and arranged audio.
Players progress through each original game by selecting Robot Master stages, defeating bosses, and acquiring their weapons. After completing all three adventures, a final challenge mode opens with new stages and enemy configurations designed specifically for this release.
Controls And Mechanics
- Run, jump, and shoot through side-scrolling stages with precise platforming timing
- Defeat Robot Masters to gain their signature weapons and switch between them during stages
- Choose stages in non-linear order within each game
- Complete all three games to unlock a special final tower challenge featuring combined resources
Version Notes
The European release runs on PAL timing, resulting in slower game speed compared to NTSC versions. This edition also reflects the Mega Drive release structure, with no standalone North American cartridge release, as the game was distributed there through Sega Channel services.
