Overview and Gameplay
Agent Jay pursues Geldra commander Dread while the events of Rolling Thunder 2 unfold elsewhere. This Genesis-exclusive sequel keeps the series’ deliberate side-scrolling gunplay while adding greater mobility, selectable special weapons, and more forgiving health and revival systems.
Jay advances through ten missions, entering doorways for cover, moving between floor levels, conserving ammunition, and defeating bosses. Motorcycle and jet-ski stages break up the on-foot action, while passwords allow later missions to be resumed.
Controls And Mechanics
- Directions: Move, crouch, use doorways, and change levels when combined with jumping.
- A: Fire the equipped special weapon.
- B: Fire the pistol, or use the knife when no usable special weapon is available.
- C: Jump. Jay can fire his pistol while airborne.
- Start: Pause or resume play.
Special weapons include machine guns, shotguns, explosives, a laser, and a flamethrower. Remaining too long in one area causes a sniper crosshair to threaten Jay. The game supports solo play only.
