Overview and Gameplay
Super High Impact turns American football into a fast, exaggerated collision sport. This Sega Genesis conversion of Midway’s arcade game uses 18 fictional teams, digitized players, sampled taunts, and hard tackles that can send helmets and equipment flying.
Matches follow the familiar structure of downs, touchdowns, punts, extra points, and field goals, but most penalties and procedural details are removed. Players select offensive or defensive formations, control one athlete at a time, and rely on computer-controlled teammates to complete each play. There is no season mode or persistent progression, so play centers on individual exhibition matches.
Controls And Mechanics
- Choose from offensive and defensive formations before each play.
- Use turbo bursts for faster runs, stronger tackles, and defensive pressure.
- The Hit-O-Meter grades especially forceful collisions.
- Quarter length, field surface, and difficulty can be adjusted.
- Two players can compete head-to-head or cooperate against the computer.
