Overview and Gameplay
Four off-road trucks crowd compact stadium circuits packed with jumps, water, oil, sand, potholes, and tight corners. Super Off Road adapts the 1989 arcade game Ivan “Ironman” Stewart’s Super Off Road for Sega Genesis and Mega Drive. Finish four-lap races, collect cash and nitro on the track, and spend prize money between events.
The 16-race circuit sequence can be repeated after completion, turning accumulated money into the main long-term score. Computer-controlled trucks fill any unused positions.
Controls And Mechanics
- Use directions to steer while holding the assigned acceleration button.
- Before play, each player assigns acceleration and nitro to two of the A, B, or C buttons. Start pauses a race.
- Nitro gives a short burst of speed. Shop upgrades improve acceleration, top speed, grip, and suspension.
- One or two players race simultaneously against the remaining computer drivers. The two-player mode is competitive, not cooperative.
Version Notes
This commercial cartridge was released without Sega licensing. The same English version supports North American Genesis and European Mega Drive systems, and the console title drops Ivan Stewart’s name.
