Overview and Gameplay
A kidnapped princess sends Ninja-kun into a side-scrolling rescue mission across nine stages. Super Ninja-kun continues Jaleco’s older Ninja-kun line on Super Famicom, adding boss fights, weapon rewards, hearts, dashing, wall climbing, and a spirit gauge for ninja powers.
Controls And Mechanics
- Run, jump, climb walls, dash, attack with ninja weapons, and throw stunned enemies.
- Defeating bosses unlocks weapons such as bombs, lightning, and boomerangs, which can be switched during play.
- When the spirit gauge is full, Super Ninja Power gives the player a stronger special attack option.
- Two players can fight simultaneously in cooperative action, with the second player controlling a palette-swap Ninja-kun.
Version Notes
This is the Japanese Super Famicom retail version. A planned U.S. localization titled Maru’s Quest was canceled, and this game is separate from Super Ninja Boy and BS Super Ninja-kun.
