Overview and Gameplay
Hattori Kanzo trains in Iga while Kemumaki sends Kōga ninja, mechanical enemies, and monsters to disrupt his progress. The adventure contains 16 side-scrolling areas, each extending to the right under a time limit. Four difficulty levels adjust the enemy challenge. Clearing all 16 areas earns Hattori the first-dan rank, and later loops continue toward higher ranks.
Controls And Mechanics
Hattori runs, jumps across gaps and water, and attacks with short-range shuriken. Mechanical ninja usually become scrolls after four hits, granting limited-use techniques such as faster movement, higher jumps, water walking, longer-range attacks, invisibility, flight, and support from Shinzo or Shishimaru. Select cycles through collected techniques, while B activates the highlighted one. Enemy contact reduces the nine-point power gauge, and food or hearts restore it. Each area ends with a bonus sequence where chikuwa award points and iron weights briefly stun Hattori.
