Overview and Gameplay
Ogura escapes after a mysterious force shatters the jar that held him. Prince Starfy, Kyorosuke, and Starfy’s younger sister Starly pursue him across ten stages set in caves, beaches, towns, mountains, jungles, ruins, and the cloud kingdom of Tenkai.
Each stage contains numbered areas with local requests, hidden items, switches, obstacles, and boss battles. Starfy and Starly have different movement skills, and the route sometimes depends on the assigned character. After the first ending, Select allows free switching between them so earlier areas can be revisited for remaining collectibles.
Controls And Mechanics
The directional pad moves and swims. A jumps, confirms choices, and performs Starfy’s double jump or Starly’s wall jump when available. B uses the Spin Attack, cancels selections, and combines with directions for dashing or special attacks. Pearls restore one heart for every five collected and also serve as currency for costumes, accessories, music, and other extras.
Losing every heart returns the character to the latest Mermaid checkpoint or area entrance. Two to four linked systems can compete in five simultaneous mini-games, including races, dance copying, item collecting, and arena knockouts.
Version Notes
This Rev 1 cartridge corrects progression-blocking boss-door problems, checkpoint data, dialogue timing, text display, and several object placements while preserving the same stages and modes.
