Overview and Gameplay

Samus Aran infiltrates the Space Pirate fortress on planet Zebes to destroy the Metroids and Mother Brain. The interconnected regions contain elevators, hidden passages, sealed hatches, environmental hazards, and bosses guarding key routes.

Chozo statues provide weapons, suits, and movement abilities that open new paths through earlier areas. Map Rooms reveal standard layouts, while hidden rooms and capacity upgrades reward careful exploration. Easy and Normal difficulties are available from the start, and Hard Mode unlocks after completing the story.

Controls And Mechanics

The directional pad moves, aims, crouches, and controls Morph Ball movement. A jumps, B fires beams or places bombs, L aims diagonally, R readies missiles, and Select switches between normal and Super Missiles.

Energy reaching zero ends the game. Energy Tanks raise health, while Missile, Super Missile, and Power Bomb Tanks expand ammunition. Completion time, item percentage, and difficulty determine gallery images. A late chapter temporarily limits Samus’s combat options and emphasizes evasion.

Version Notes

This Game Boy Advance production is an expanded remake of the original Metroid, with redesigned areas, new abilities, added bosses, cinematic scenes, a stealth-focused chapter, and an unlockable version of the NES game.
