Overview and Gameplay

Spider-Man 2 follows Peter Parker as he confronts Doctor Octopus and other villains across New York. Eight chapters contain 21 main missions, optional street crimes, boss battles, rescues, chases, and searches for keys or switches. Side-scrolling stages cover rooftops, buildings, subways, sewers, docks, and construction sites, while compact 3D city areas connect missions and optional objectives.

Completing missions, defeating enemies, rescuing civilians, collecting Spider tokens, and taking hidden photographs awards experience. These points buy new attacks and permanent improvements to health, movement, jumping, strength, and web-fluid capacity.

Controls And Mechanics

The directional pad moves Spider-Man, controls wall-crawling, aims attacks, and steers during 3D swinging. A jumps and starts a web swing, while B performs punches, kicks, and object throws. L activates web attacks, and R fires web lines for pulling, throwing, or traversal.

Health, lives, and web fluid must be managed during each mission. Refills restore health or web supplies, extra-life icons add lives, and defeat returns Spider-Man near the failed section until the final life is lost. Camera prompts mark twelve hidden photographs that unlock images from the film.

Version Notes

The Game Boy Advance edition uses 2D action stages linked by limited 3D web-swinging hubs and chase sequences, with handheld-specific missions and an experience-based upgrade system.
