Overview and Gameplay
Garm has released the demon Skorne by scattering the Runestones across corrupted realms. Choose the Warrior, Valkyrie, Wizard, or Archer and fight through a single-player campaign of 32 overhead mazes. Each level centers on reaching the exit, destroying monster generators, collecting supplies, and searching side routes for hidden Runestones. Thirteen stages contain the stones required to reach the final confrontation. Defeated enemies grant experience, allowing the selected hero to gain levels and improve core attributes. Cleared areas can be revisited to build strength before later bosses.
Controls And Mechanics
The directional pad moves the hero, A performs the class’s standard weapon attack, B uses a magic potion, L blocks, and R strafes while preserving the current facing direction. Monster generators continuously create enemies until destroyed. Food restores health, potions damage nearby foes, and temporary power-ups can improve speed, defense, or projectile output. Treasure and supplies reward exploration beyond the direct route to each exit.
Version Notes
The Game Boy Advance edition presents Gauntlet: Dark Legacy as a compact overhead adventure built around four character classes, 32 mazes, character leveling, and streamlined attack, defense, potion, and strafing actions.
