Overview and Gameplay
Pokemon 2000 sends a Charmeleon-like hero through four side-scrolling stages filled with ruins, ships, moving platforms, teleporters, and boss battles. Easy and Normal settings adjust the campaign, while progress depends on reaching each stage exit and defeating its guardian.
Controls And Mechanics
The directional pad moves the character and aims compatible upgraded shots. A jumps, while B fires the equipped projectile. Holding B summons a spear that can be thrown at enemies or used as a bouncing platform to reach higher ledges.
Defeated enemies drop coins that fund health, extra lives, pit protection, stronger projectiles, and spear upgrades at shops. Shooting a falling coin can increase its value before collection. Losing a life removes purchased weapon upgrades and restores the basic attack.
Version Notes
This unlicensed Pokémon-themed conversion of Mitsume ga Tōru replaces portions of the original protagonist’s graphics with Charmeleon. It keeps the projectile combat, spear mechanics, shops, enemies, music, and later stages while removing the opening story and first stage.
