Overview and Gameplay
Pokemon Golden sends an Eevee-styled character through an oversized house divided into five worlds with three main stages each. The route begins in the basement and climbs toward the attic through rooms filled with insects, household hazards, climbing wires, hidden mouse holes, and boss encounters.
Small cheese pieces add to the end-of-stage score, while large cheese wedges restore the strength meter. Mouse holes can lead to bonus areas or stage exits. The status display tracks score, high score, lives, strength, and the currently selected item.
Controls And Mechanics
The directional pad moves the character, climbs cords, and enters openings. A jumps, with longer presses producing higher and farther leaps. B throws unlimited marbles or uses the selected limited item. Select cycles through collected equipment, including bubble gum, a hammer, invisible ink, and a drill.
Enemy contact reduces strength, while some hazards cost a life immediately. An extra life is awarded every 50,000 points. After losing all lives, a timed continue can restart the current stage with the score reset.
Version Notes
This unlicensed Famicom/NES release is a character-and-title hack of Tom & Jerry: The Ultimate Game of Cat and Mouse! Eevee replaces Jerry during normal movement and attacks, while Espeon replaces Tom in boss scenes. Some item animations and the status display still retain Jerry graphics and text.
