Overview and Gameplay
A biological war has transformed the planet Avaron into a hostile world of mutants and living machinery. In Bio-Hazard Battle, one or two players pilot organic Bioships through eight horizontally scrolling stages, searching for a place where humanity can return.
Each of the four Bioships has a fixed speed and its own combination of weapons. A floating Power Star follows the ship and changes its attack when colored Energy Seeds are collected. Repeated seeds raise the current weapon through three power levels, while losing a life reduces its strength. The campaign moves through ruined cities, forests, mines, ocean depths, a flying destroyer, and the Biowar laboratory.
Controls And Mechanics
- Directions: Move the Bioship in eight directions and reposition the Power Star.
- A: Use rapid autofire.
- B or C: Fire manually, or hold and release to launch the powerful Plasma Wall.
- Start: Begin, pause, or resume play.
Two players can fight simultaneously in cooperative play. Both choose their own Bioships, although one ship can sometimes obstruct the other player’s Power Star fire.
