Overview and Gameplay

Five Sailor Guardians take the fight to the Dark Kingdom in this Japan-only Mega Drive adaptation of the first anime story arc. Choose Sailor Moon, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, or Venus, then clear enemy waves across five main stages leading to Queen Beryl. Each Guardian has distinct attacks and special moves, while Hard difficulty adds a final battle with Queen Metalia.

Controls And Mechanics

  • Directions: Move around the belt-scrolling battlefield and enter directional commands.
  • A: Attack, continue combos, use carried weapons, or hold and release for a charged special.
  • B: Jump; combine it with movement and A for several aerial attacks.
  • C: Perform a powerful special that consumes part of the life gauge.
  • Walking into an enemy starts a grab, allowing follow-up strikes or throws.
  • Food restores health, while other pickups can extend maximum health, add lives, or provide a folding fan weapon.

Version Notes

This Mega Drive conversion substantially reworks the earlier Super Famicom game with different stages, enemy placement, graphics, music, and character commands. It is strictly single-player, unlike the cooperative Super Famicom release, and contains Japanese text.
