Overview and Gameplay
Command a fragile squad of named soldiers through overhead battlefields where one mistake can permanently remove a veteran from the campaign. This Mega Drive conversion of Sensible Software’s Amiga original blends fast shooting with light real-time tactics across 24 missions and 72 phases.
Objectives include eliminating enemy troops, destroying buildings, crossing hazardous terrain, and using vehicles. Survivors earn promotions, while fallen soldiers receive graves and replacements are drawn from a limited recruit pool.
Controls And Mechanics
- Directions move the targeting cursor rather than the soldiers directly.
- A orders the selected squad to move, board vehicles, or leave them.
- B fires rifles toward the cursor.
- Holding B and pressing A launches the selected grenade or rocket.
- Squads can be divided into smaller groups for flanking, scouting, or protecting experienced troops.
- The campaign is strictly single-player.
Version Notes
The European Mega Drive edition adapts the original mouse-driven interface to a three-button controller. It retains the full campaign structure but uses console-specific graphics and sound.
