Overview and Gameplay

Seneca sends the starfighter Baldanders against an invasion from Parceria, ending with an assault inside the enemy mothership Mother. Curse is a single-player horizontal shooter created for the Mega Drive, with five stages spanning forests, open skies, enemy bases, space, and the organic-mechanical interior of Mother.

The ship collects three upgradeable main weapons, guided missiles, speed boosts, shield energy, and up to two supporting Options. Most stages allow near-point respawns, but a death in the final stage restarts that stage, making recovery much harsher. There are no continues.

Controls And Mechanics

  • Movement: Steer Baldanders in all directions while the screen scrolls forward.
  • Weapons: Fire continuously, deploy a screen-clearing bomb, and reposition the Options.
  • Defense: Shield energy absorbs ordinary hits, while collisions and stronger attacks can destroy the ship immediately.
  • Progression: Main weapons have three power levels. Collecting another copy of a fully upgraded weapon awards an additional bomb.

Version Notes

This is the Japanese retail release. No North American or European retail edition followed, although an unreleased United States prototype was produced under the same title.
