Overview and Gameplay
Earth’s defenses depend on a single advanced fighter when alien forces invade in 2090. Raiden Densetsu is Micronet’s Sega Genesis conversion of Seibu Kaihatsu’s arcade shooter, known as Raiden Trad in North America. The player crosses eight vertically scrolling stages, destroying aircraft, tanks, ships, ground defenses, and large bosses before reaching an additional Special Stage.
Controls And Mechanics
- Move in eight directions while firing at airborne and ground targets.
- Collect red power-ups for a spreading Wide Shot or blue power-ups for a concentrated Laser.
- Homing and forward-firing missiles upgrade separately from the main weapon.
- Bombs damage nearby enemies and clear dangerous fire.
- Button C provides rapid fire when the RAPID option is enabled.
- The game supports one player only. Losing a life sharply reduces accumulated firepower, making recovery difficult in later stages.
Version Notes
The same dual-region cartridge displays Raiden Densetsu on Japanese hardware and Raiden Trad on North American hardware. Unlike the two-player arcade original, this Genesis conversion is strictly solo and adds a console-exclusive Special Stage after the main campaign.
