Overview and Gameplay
Armored power suits have replaced prohibited missiles in a future war, and Howie Bowie must lead the Undead unit into Bloody Axis. This is an isometric mech shooter developed by Wolf Team and released in North America as Final Zone.
Across seven areas and fourteen stages, the player hunts enemy officers, battles bosses, and tackles several diagonally scrolling sections. Twenty weapon types can be collected, with one hand weapon and one stronger, ammunition-limited optional weapon equipped at a time. Stored weapons also function as durability, so taking damage gradually strips away the arsenal.
Controls And Mechanics
- Move in eight directions and double-tap a direction to dash.
- Fire the hand weapon or optional weapon; moving while firing makes the suit strafe without changing its facing.
- Open the weapon screen to equip weapons and rearrange their inventory priority.
- Close contact triggers an automatic punch.
- Easy, Normal, and Hard settings alter enemy strength, starting equipment, and continues.
Version Notes
The Japanese Mega Drive release is titled FZ Senki Axis. The North American Genesis edition was renamed Final Zone.
