Overview and Gameplay
Knight Arthur crosses execution grounds, burning towns, crystal caverns, and a demon castle to rescue the kidnapped princess. This Sega Genesis conversion of Capcom’s 1988 arcade game is a demanding action platformer built around fixed jump arcs, timed stages, weapon management, and enemies that attack from several directions.
Arthur must complete the adventure twice and obtain the special final weapon during the second loop to reach the true final battle.
Controls And Mechanics
- Movement: Walk, crouch, jump, and aim attacks horizontally, upward, or downward while airborne.
- Armor: One hit removes Arthur’s armor; another defeats him. Magic armor enables charged attacks that vary with the equipped weapon.
- Weapons: Lances, daggers, axes, fire, discus weapons, and a short-range sword replace one another when collected.
- Treasure: Hidden chests can contain armor and weapons or release a magician who temporarily transforms Arthur.
- Two players: The multiplayer mode is alternating rather than simultaneous, with each player taking a separate turn.
Version Notes
This ROM represents the revised Western build commonly catalogued as Rev A for the USA and Europe. The Japanese Mega Drive release is titled Daimakaimura.
