Overview and Gameplay
A street war erupts as Axel Stone, Blaze Fielding, and their allies pursue a criminal network that has escalated its control over the city. This entry pushes the series into a faster and more technical style of beat em up action, with branching stage paths and multiple endings depending on performance.
Players move through side scrolling stages filled with gang enemies, environmental hazards, and boss encounters. Combat focuses on chaining attacks, throws, and weapon pickups while managing a health draining special attack system that delivers powerful damage at a cost. Compared to earlier entries, movement is quicker and more aggressive, with dash mechanics shaping encounters.
Two player cooperative play allows both fighters to progress through the campaign together.
