Overview and Gameplay
Marche Radiuju and his friends discover a mysterious book that transforms St. Ivalice into a fantasy realm. Marche joins Montblanc’s clan, accepts missions from pubs, and searches for a way to restore the original world.
Missions include tactical battles, dispatched assignments, encounters with rival clans, and operations to liberate territory. Victories provide gil, items, abilities, clan points, and symbols used to place new locations on the world map. Five playable races have distinct job lists, while advanced jobs unlock after characters master required abilities.
Controls And Mechanics
Battles take place on grid-based maps where Speed determines turn order. Units move, choose actions, change facing, or wait. Terrain height, attack range, positioning, status effects, and displayed hit chances influence each command.
Weapons, armor, and accessories teach abilities through Ability Points. The rotating law system prohibits selected actions and rewards recommended ones. Breaking a law can cause penalties, imprisonment, or removal from battle. Judge Points power combo attacks and race-specific Totema summons.
Two-player Game Link Cable missions support cooperative objectives and competitive enemy-defeat contests. Players can also trade units and items between two systems.
