Overview and Gameplay
Pokémon FireRed Version follows a young Trainer across Kanto after Professor Oak provides a starter Pokémon and Pokédex. The campaign centers on catching and training Pokémon, earning eight Gym Badges, defeating Team Rocket, and challenging the Elite Four and Champion.
Routes, forests, caves, towns, and waterways connect the region. Later progress opens the Sevii Islands, where additional quests, Pokémon, and a postgame Team Rocket storyline expand the adventure.
Controls And Mechanics
Turn-based battles use commands for selecting moves, switching Pokémon, using items, or fleeing from wild encounters. Pokémon gain experience, learn techniques, evolve, and rely on type matchups, abilities, held items, HP, and limited move PP. Poké Balls capture wild Pokémon, while TMs and HMs teach new moves and unlock field actions.
Game Link Cable and Wireless Adapter modes support trading, direct versus battles, four-player team Multi Battles, and cooperative Berry Crush sessions. Losing every active Pokémon returns the Trainer to the last Pokémon Center and removes part of the carried money.
Version Notes
This Revision 1 release corrects several text, Pokédex, display, and initialization issues found in the first English build.
