Overview and Gameplay
Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire uses two themed tables, the Ruby Field and Sapphire Field. Each run focuses on building score while registering Pokémon in a persistent Pokédex. Catch ‘Em Mode reveals a Pokémon for timed hits, Egg Mode hatches another target, and Evo Mode lets an eligible Pokémon evolve after three required items are collected. Travel Mode changes the current area and its available species, while table objectives open bonus stages featuring Pokémon such as Kecleon, Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza.
Controls And Mechanics
The directional pad operates the left flipper, while A controls the right flipper, launches the ball, and confirms selections. L and R tilt the field, and pressing both tilts it upward. Pikachu can rescue balls from an outlane after its electricity gauge is charged. Coins buy temporary Poké Mart bonuses, and ball upgrades raise the scoring multiplier from Great Ball through Master Ball. A run starts with three balls; catching 15 Pokémon awards an extra ball, and losing every ball ends the run. A Game Link Cable can exchange high scores and Pokédex registration data between two cartridges.
