Overview and Gameplay

Super Monkey Ball Jr. challenges AiAi, MeeMee, Baby, and GonGon to cross floating obstacle courses before time expires. Directional input tilts the entire floor, causing the selected monkey to roll around gaps, slopes, moving platforms, bumpers, and rotating hazards. Beginner, Advanced, Expert, and unlockable Master sets contain 74 floors, while Practice Mode allows individual cleared stages to be replayed. Bananas increase the score, and collecting every banana on a floor awards a Perfect bonus.

Controls And Mechanics

Holding A increases the floor angle for faster acceleration and steep climbs, while holding B reduces the tilt for finer movement. Falling from a course or exhausting the timer costs a life. Party games include ten-frame Monkey Bowling, arena-based Monkey Fight, two-course Monkey Golf, and the linked Monkey Duel race. Bowling and Golf support alternating play on one system, while Game Link competition supports up to four participants with one cartridge per system.

Version Notes

This handheld adaptation replaces analog movement with directional floor tilting and separate controls for stronger or softer tilt. It includes the exclusive two-player Monkey Duel mode.
