Overview and Gameplay
Kamek captures Baby Luigi and causes Baby Mario to fall onto Yoshi’s Island. A group of Yoshis carries Mario across six worlds, clears side-scrolling stages, defeats bosses, and follows his connection to his missing brother.
Yoshi can run, flutter jump, ground-pound, swallow enemies, create eggs, and throw them at targets or ricochet surfaces. Each stage awards up to 100 points from remaining Star Power, Red Coins, and Flowers. Perfect world totals open extra challenges, while this GBA edition adds six Secret Stages.
Controls And Mechanics
The directional pad moves, crouches, and aims. A jumps and flutters, B uses Yoshi’s tongue or spits held enemies, L locks the egg cursor, R aims and throws eggs, Start pauses, and Select opens the score and item screen.
Taking damage separates Baby Mario from Yoshi and starts a countdown. Recovering him stops the timer, while reaching zero costs a life. The included Mario Bros. modes support two-to-four-player competitive Battle play and cooperative Classic play through Game Link Cables.
Version Notes
This enhanced conversion of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island adds Secret Stages, handheld-adjusted presentation, and separate Mario Bros. Classic and Battle modes.
