Overview and Gameplay
Dr. Eggman uses Chaos Control to divide the world into seven regions. Sonic and Tails search for their missing friends, recover the Chaos Emeralds, and confront Eggman and Gemerl.
Choose a leader and partner from Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and Cream. Each pairing changes movement, attacks, available routes, and partner-assisted Tag Actions. Every zone contains three acts, hidden Chao, minigames, and a boss. Completing all three acts opens the boss area and advances the campaign.
Controls And Mechanics
The directional pad moves, crouches, rolls, and navigates maps. A jumps and uses team-dependent aerial moves, B performs attacks, R calls the partner and activates Tag Actions, Start pauses, and Select displays the Chao Map from a zone hub.
Rings protect against ordinary damage, while item boxes provide barriers, invincibility, speed, rings, or extra lives. Finding all ten Chao in a zone allows Special Keys to appear, opening a flight-based Special Stage for that zone’s Chaos Emerald. Two linked players can control the leader and partner cooperatively, while Battle modes support competitive races and Find the Chao matches.
