Overview and Gameplay
N. Tropy and N. Trance hypnotize Coco and Crunch, sending Crash and Aku Aku through hyperspace to rescue them. Crash enters stages from an overhead map, collects Power Crystals, defeats bosses, and opens new routes toward the villains.
Most stages use side-scrolling platform action, while selected levels feature wakeboarding, space flight, magic-carpet shooting, helicopter movement, or rolling inside an Atlas Sphere. Cleared stages can be replayed in Time Trial mode to earn Sapphire, Gold, or Platinum Relics.
Controls And Mechanics
Crash runs, jumps, double-jumps, spins, crouches, crawls, slides, and performs body slams. Boss victories unlock the Super Slide, Rocket Jump, Tornado Spin, and Turbo Run for later stages and faster time trials.
Power Crystals advance the campaign. Breaking every crate in a stage awards a Clear Gem, while sets of colored Gem Shards unlock special stages. Wumpa Fruit and Crash-head crates provide extra lives, Aku Aku masks absorb damage, and checkpoint crates set a restart point. TNT and Nitro crates create hazards, while switch, spring, freeze, copter, and magic-carpet crates trigger specialized effects.
Two-player link-cable modes include simultaneous level races and Atlas Sphere contests. Opponents compete for faster times or battle through King of the Hill and Domination rules.
