Overview and Gameplay
Crash Bandicoot Purple: Ripto’s Rampage follows Crash after Doctor Neo Cortex joins forces with Ripto. Crash explores five hub areas, collects Wumpa Fruit to activate warp pads, and enters short challenges to earn Power Crystals. Five crystals open each boss encounter, while Clear Gems come from objectives such as destroying every crate. Collecting 20 Clear Gems unlocks Tech Park.
Story mode connects platform sections with running, shooting, vehicle, flight, tank, and ball-deflection events. Party mode opens completed minigames and harder variants. Trading mode lets linked systems exchange collectible cards, including cards tied to characters, abilities, cheats, and other unlocks.
Controls And Mechanics
The directional pad moves Crash and crouches, A jumps and performs a double jump, and B uses the spin attack or interacts with nearby characters and objects. Minigames assign their own actions to A, B, L, and R after an instruction screen.
Aku Aku grants an extra hit. Time crates pause event timers, arrow crates launch Crash higher, and TNT and Nitro crates act as hazards. Checkpoints restore progress after failure, though recently collected fruit, broken crates, and defeated enemies may reset.
Ballistix and Ship Shuffle support simultaneous competitive link play for up to four participants, with single- or multiple-cartridge configurations depending on the mode. Bridge Fight supports two-player versus play with multiple cartridges.
