Overview and Gameplay

Tetris Worlds asks players to arrange falling Tetriminos into complete horizontal lines before the stack reaches the top. Marathon advances through fifteen levels, while Ultra applies a two-minute limit. Six variants change the objective: Tetris rewards line clears and T-Spins; Sticky removes connected color groups; Fusion joins atom blocks to a central piece; Hot-Line counts rows cleared across marked lines; Square rewards four-by-four blocks; Cascade lets unsupported blocks fall after a clear. A hidden Popular Tetris mode uses traditional score-based progression.

Controls And Mechanics

The directional pad moves pieces, soft-drops them, or performs a hard drop. A and B rotate in opposite directions, R stores or exchanges the active piece, and Start pauses. The ghost piece previews the landing position, while the Hold system preserves one Tetrimino for later use. A round ends when a new piece cannot enter the Matrix. Two-player Game Link Cable matches send garbage blocks to the opponent after line clears.

Version Notes

The Game Boy Advance edition presents Marathon, Ultra, and versus modes directly. It also includes the hidden Popular Tetris ruleset and supports two-player link competition with one cartridge per system.
