Overview and Gameplay
Doom II follows a lone space marine fighting through a demon-occupied Earth. Each first-person stage requires exploration, combat, key collection, switch activation, and a route to the exit. The campaign contains 34 stages, including two secret levels. Four difficulty settings alter enemy pressure, while completion screens record kills, items, secrets, elapsed time, and par time. Progress can be saved after finishing a stage.
Controls And Mechanics
The directional pad moves forward or backward and turns the marine. B fires the equipped weapon, while A opens doors, activates switches, and operates lifts. Shoulder-button combinations cycle through the weapon inventory. Available weapons include the shotgun, super shotgun, chaingun, rocket launcher, plasma gun, and BFG 9000. Health, armor, ammunition, backpacks, radiation suits, computer maps, and temporary power-ups appear throughout the stages. Game Link play supports two-player cooperative missions and competitive Deathmatch for up to four participants.
Version Notes
This Game Boy Advance adaptation divides Industrial Zone and The Chasm into two parts, producing 34 numbered stages. Several areas use altered architecture for handheld performance. Monster blood appears green, and the two Wolfenstein-themed secret stages retain modified imagery.
