Overview and Gameplay
Doom follows a space marine through invaded bases on Phobos, Deimos, and Hell. Each first-person map requires the marine to fight monsters, locate colored keys, operate doors and switches, and reach the exit. The campaign contains 24 maps across three episodes. Four difficulty settings change enemy pressure, while completion screens record kills, items, secrets, and clear time. Progress can be saved after finishing a map.
Controls And Mechanics
The directional pad moves forward and backward or turns the marine. A fires the equipped weapon, B operates doors and switches, and holding B while moving enables running. L and R strafe, while pressing both shoulder buttons with a direction cycles weapons. Health, armor, ammunition, backpacks, radiation suits, computer maps, and temporary power-ups appear throughout the levels. Reaching zero health restarts the current map. Game Link play supports two-player cooperative missions and competitive Deathmatch for up to four participants, with respawning players and collectible weapons returning during matches.
Version Notes
This Game Boy Advance adaptation uses 24 campaign maps derived from the console version of Doom and adds eight exclusive Deathmatch arenas. It also includes adjustable brightness and static or dynamic lighting options for the handheld screen.
