Overview and Gameplay
Parasitis, a colossal shapeless organism, has swallowed the planet Abadox and a hospital ship carrying Princess Maria. As Second Lieutenant Nazal, the player enters the creature to destroy its core and rescue her.
This single-player shooter moves through six stages of biological horror, alternating horizontal flight with downward-scrolling vertical sections. Fixed enemy formations, narrow passages, guardian battles, and a final escape demand careful movement and memorization. An unprotected hit costs a life, while death at a checkpoint removes collected upgrades.
Controls And Mechanics
- Control Pad: Move Nazal in four directions.
- B: Fire the equipped weapon.
- A: Adjust the orbit of acquired barrier shields.
- Power-ups include speed boosts, multi-directional beams, lasers, missiles, rotating shields, and layered protective armor.
- The player begins with three lives and can continue from the current stage with basic firepower.
Version Notes
The North American edition uses the subtitle The Deadly Inner War, English story terminology, and Milton Bradley packaging. Its ending gives Princess Maria clothing that is absent in the Japanese version.
