Overview and Gameplay
Guide a skating penguin between Antarctic research bases while racing a strict timer. This 1985 Famicom port of Konami’s MSX game uses a behind-the-character view, with ice holes, crevasses, and seals blocking the route.
Each circuit contains 10 stages. Reaching a base before time expires advances the journey, while completing the final stage restarts the course at a higher difficulty. Fish, flags, clean jumps, and remaining time add to the score.
Controls And Mechanics
- Use the directional pad to steer, accelerate, and slow down.
- Press A or B to jump over ice holes and crevasses.
- Repeatedly press A or B to escape a crevasse faster.
- A flashing flag awards the Pegicopter, allowing brief flight over hazards, though steering is disabled in the air.
- Collisions cost valuable time rather than a conventional life.
Version Notes
The Japanese package title is けっきょく南極大冒険, romanized as Kekkyoku Nankyoku Daibōken. The Famicom version adds the Pegicopter and expanded flag scoring compared with the original MSX release.
