Overview and Gameplay

Godzilla 2: War of the Monsters places the Allied Defense Forces against Godzilla and other giant monsters across 12 independent scenarios. Every scenario begins unlocked and uses a different map, army, monster roster, and mission condition. Most battles require eliminating all hostile monsters within 99 turns while protecting key facilities and preserving enough units to continue the operation.

Controls And Mechanics

Turns alternate between the Allied force and the computer-controlled monsters. Tanks, missile launchers, aircraft, Maser weapons, Super X2, and other units move across terrain with different movement costs and defensive effects. Bases deploy reserves and repair damage, laboratories build special weapons, and cities restore a smaller amount of life.

Combat opens a side-view exchange after the player selects a weapon. A three-reel slot display can modify attack, defense, or accuracy. Monsters recover statistics between turns, which makes concentrated attacks important. Special commands allow trailers to carry ground units, radar vehicles to uncover Baragon or Mothra’s egg, and transports to deliver parts for the Moonlight SY-3. Some missions also permit the Oxygen Destroyer, while detonating the Atomic Bomb causes immediate defeat.
