Overview and Gameplay
Colonel Scott O’Connor enters a defense computer to stop a mutating virus, taking the form of a kabuki warrior inside its digital world. This single-player action-platformer combines running, jumping, combat, timed stages, and boss battles across six rounds.
Scott attacks with his long hair and gains special weapons after defeating bosses. Energy guns, bombs, dynamite, and other attacks consume memory chips. Hanging rails and platforms are central to progression, allowing Scott to swing over hazards, launch across gaps, and kick enemies from below.
Controls And Mechanics
- Directions: Move, crouch, climb, drop from rails, and adjust resource conversion during paused boss fights.
- A: Jump, grab overhead platforms, and control swinging releases.
- B: Use the hair attack, fire the selected weapon, or kick while hanging.
- Select: Cycle through available special weapons.
- Start: Begin the game or pause.
Health and memory-chip energy can be exchanged during boss battles. Score bonuses reward remaining health, ammunition, and time, while limited lives and continues make later stages demanding.
Version Notes
The Japanese release was titled Jigoku Gokuraku Maru and starred Bobby Yano. The U.S. localization replaced him with Scott O’Connor and rewrote the story around a military computer virus.
