Overview and Gameplay
Muttley takes the lead in Wacky Races, a NES platformer based on the Hanna-Barbera cartoon, but not a racing game.
Instead of driving against the full cartoon roster, the player guides Muttley through side-scrolling stages to rescue Dick Dastardly. The game uses running, jumping, crouching, biting enemies, collecting diamonds, gathering bones, and using special items across themed areas such as deserts, forests, castles, islands, towns, mountains, and ice stages.
Controls And Mechanics
- Muttley’s bite is the main close-range attack.
- Diamonds build toward extra lives.
- Bones control access to the item window.
- Special items include bombs, Sonic Bark, wings, and hearts.
- The game has three courses, with Course A suited to beginners and Course C offering the tougher route.
- This is a solo platformer with no two-player mode.
