Overview and Gameplay

Hiryu, a high-speed Strider agent, is sent into a conspiracy involving the bio-weapon Zain and a collapsing network of organizations. Armed with the Cipher blade, the player moves through multi-region stages that mix action platforming with exploration. Progress depends on finding keys, recovering data disks, and returning to the Blue Dragon base to unlock information and new paths, creating a looping structure where earlier areas are revisited with new abilities and access.

The gameplay focuses on fast combat, wall traversal, and environmental navigation. Hiryu can scale vertical surfaces and fight through enemy-filled zones while gradually gaining upgrades such as movement enhancements and special techniques that expand how levels are approached.

Controls And Mechanics

  • Movement across platforms and climbing walls is central to stage navigation
  • Jumping allows traversal gaps and wall-based movement techniques
  • Attacks are performed with the Cipher blade for close-range combat
  • Special abilities and upgrades expand mobility and combat options over time
  • Keys and data disks unlock progression and new areas at the Blue Dragon base

Version Notes

This version differs from the arcade release by focusing on non-linear progression, exploration, and base-driven progression systems. A separate Japanese Famicom release titled Strider Hiryu was planned but not released in the same form.
