Overview and Gameplay
Dr. Robotnik has trapped Beanville’s residents inside his Mean Bean-Steaming Machine, and each victory frees more of them from his robot henchmen. Pairs of colored beans fall into a six-column field. Connecting four or more of one color clears them, while carefully arranged chain reactions send transparent Refugee Beans into the opponent’s field.
Scenario Mode presents 13 increasingly difficult computer opponents and uses passwords for progression. Exercise Mode offers endless score play, while the two-player mode supports simultaneous head-to-head matches.
Controls And Mechanics
- Movement: Use directions to move falling pairs and accelerate their descent.
- Rotation: A and C rotate clockwise, while B rotates counterclockwise.
- Defense: Refugee Beans disappear only when an adjacent normal group is cleared.
- Multiplayer: Two players compete on separate fields, with chains sending garbage to the opposing side.
Version Notes
This North American Genesis release uses the Dr. Robotnik theme and characters from Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. Its puzzle system is adapted from Compile’s Mega Drive version of Puyo Puyo.
